What TrackConvert is
TrackConvert is a free, local GPS track and archive converter. Drop a Strava, Garmin, or COROS account export — or a single FIT / GPX / TCX / KML file — choose what you need it for, and download. No account and no paywall.
We built it for people switching platforms, backing up history, or preparing files for Komoot, Garmin, Strava, or Google My Maps — not as a full training dashboard or map editor.
What we focus on
Whole-export workflows: detect Strava / Garmin / COROS zip layouts, convert many activities at once, and name outputs from export metadata when available.
Honest format routes people actually need: FIT → GPX, KML/KMZ ↔ GPX, TCX ↔ GPX, plus merge and privacy trim utilities.
Privacy by default: conversion runs in your browser. Track contents are not uploaded to our servers to convert them.
vs gpx.studio
gpx.studio is excellent for editing, merging on a map, and visualizing tracks. We do not try to replace that.
TrackConvert focuses on archive batch conversion, activity naming from export metadata, and trimming start/end before you share — then you can still open the result in a map editor if you need finer edits.
What conversion can lose
FIT → GPX: laps, device info, and some training metrics. Heart rate, cadence, and power are kept in GPX extensions when present.
GPX → KML: heart rate, cadence, and power — KML is not a sport-data container.
KML / KMZ → GPX: styles and icons; polygons become boundary lines when possible.
TCX → GPX: lap structure and some sport extensions may not map cleanly.
Any → CSV: only the documented columns. FIT files without GPS points are skipped on purpose (for example monitoring files in a Garmin export).
FIT write & libraries
We read FIT (activity / course) but do not write FIT in the current product. If you need a .fit file, convert to GPX (or another supported format) instead.
Parsing and packaging use MIT / BSD / Apache libraries (including fit-file-parser and @tmcw/togeojson). We do not ship Garmin’s FIT SDK or GPSBabel WASM.
Browser limits
Very large archives are limited by your device memory and tab resources. Prefer a desktop browser for multi-thousand-activity exports, and keep other heavy tabs closed if conversion stalls.
Optional map preview loads tiles from an external basemap; skip preview if you do not want that network request.
Not in scope
Route planning, map matching, training analytics dashboards, GIS formats (Shapefile / DXF), or pulling history via Strava / Garmin APIs.
We also do not rebuild a full Garmin “account package” for re-import — we convert tracks into formats other tools accept.
