Good for

  • Open a ride in Google Earth

Earth and My Maps speak KML; convert GPX so you can view or share the line there.

  • Large tracks for My Maps

Very long GPX files are lightly simplified so they fit common KML size limits.

  • Geometry only for a map layer

You need the path on a map, not heart-rate charts — KML is enough.

  • Hand off to non-sport tools

GIS-ish or Earth viewers that reject GPX often accept KML.

Please noteHeart rate, cadence, and power are dropped — KML is not a sport-data container.

FAQ

Are my GPX files uploaded?

No. Everything runs locally in the browser.

Will heart rate appear in Earth?

No. Those fields are not part of typical KML; we say so up front.

Why does my track look slightly simplified?

Large GPX files may be lightly simplified so My Maps / Earth imports more reliably.

Can I convert KML back to GPX?

Yes — use KML → GPX (styles still will not return as sport metrics).
